Richard B. Doubleday (b. 1962) is a graphic designer, author and Assistant Professor of Art in the Department of Graphic Design at the College of Fine Arts, Boston University and teaches in their London Summer British Programmes. He received his BFA in illustration from Massachusetts College of Art and a MFA in graphic design from Boston University where he was a Dean’s Scholar. His awards and honors include a visiting fellowship at Chelsea College of Art & Design, University of the Arts London and a Marion and Jasper Whiting Foundation Fellowship. He is an award-winning designer and has exhibited his poster designs at many international events and competitions including the Seventh International Poster Triennial in Toyama, Japan, and most recently, the Universidad Iberoamericana, Santa Fe, Mexico City. Richard conducts lectures on design history throughout the world and recently conducted a cultural concept book workshop at Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute in Suzhou, China. Presently, Richard is co-curating an international poster exhibition titled, Posters of The Digital Revolution. His writings on design history have been published in Baseline, IDEA, A! DISEÑO, Print, NOVUM, Design & Packaging China, IdN and Australian Creative. His posters have been published in numerous periodicals and publications, including Design & Packaging China and Atlas of Graphic Design. Richard is author of Jan Tschichold, Designer: The Penguin Years, co-author of Jan Tschichold: Life & Work, and a member of the writing team for Phaidon Graphic Classics. Richard is a member of the Society of Printers. |
